Unlocking the Next Generation of Entrepreneurs: How HappyFunCorp Helped Mighty Build a Platform for Scale

Mighty

Mighty, a New York City-based startup, redefined how the next generation learned about entrepreneurship.

Through a platform that empowered children and teenagers to launch businesses, design and sell products, and build financial literacy, Mighty helped young people develop practical entrepreneurial skills through real-world experience.

The core belief driving this mission was that these skills—problem-solving, resourcefulness, resilience, creativity, and leadership—were essential for preparing young people to succeed in any environment.

But as the company grew more and more quickly, Mighty’s team soon found themselves at a critical crossroads.

The challenge

When Mighty approached HappyFunCorp, they were at a pivotal moment in their growth journey. While their platform had successfully captured a young core audience (ages 8–12), they needed help addressing several interconnected challenges:

  • Expanding beyond their initial market to include teenagers (ages 13–18)
  • Finding product-market fit—while growing their user base
  • Balancing user needs between kids, teens, parents, and educators
  • Building community-driven engagement to encourage user retention and participation
  • Establishing monetization models through subscriptions and partnerships
  • Developing scalable, cohesive design systems to support their evolving platform

There was an additional challenge: Mighty was initially hesitant to bring in external design expertise, preferring to keep product development in-house—the HappyFunCorp team members who joined the project would need to establish trust quickly and demonstrate immediate value.

Mighty chose HappyFunCorp to help them:

  • Develop a product vision that aligned with business goals and user needs
  • Create a scalable design system compatible with engineering workflows
  • Improve onboarding and user flows to increase engagement
  • Design tools and dashboards to engage young entrepreneurs
  • Expand platform capabilities for teens and nonprofit fundraising

HappyFunCorp’s approach

HappyFunCorp embedded directly within Mighty's leadership and product teams—not just as designers, but as strategic partners committed to long-term success. There were four key pillars to the team’s multifaceted approach:

Provide a strategic product vision

Instead of approaching Mighty's challenges as isolated design tasks, HappyFunCorp leveraged its team’s deep technical expertise and employed a product owner mindset to tackle ambiguous problems systematically. They led and facilitated strategic workshops with Mighty’s leadership to clarify goals, align stakeholders, and define success for each user segment, ultimately bringing focus to a fast-moving roadmap.

This leadership-driven approach ensured that every design decision supported broader business goals including user growth, retention, and future revenue opportunities. In addition to shaping the product experience, the team also supported vital business development initiatives by crafting fundraising materials that helped the CEO successfully raise additional capital and producing customized sales collateral used to pitch Mighty’s offering to schools, nonprofit organizations, and institutional partners.

Build a comprehensive design ecosystem

To enable consistent, scalable development, HappyFunCorp built an advanced design system in Figma that’s fully synchronized with Mighty's component libraries in Storybook JS and Chromatic. This system provided rapid prototyping capabilities while ensuring visual cohesion across all touchpoints.

This foundation not only improved collaboration between Design and Engineering, but also positioned Mighty to grow without compromising product quality or speed.

Design a user-centered experience

HappyFunCorp conducted targeted research and applied UX principles to design experiences that resonated with different groups of users, specifically:

  • Young entrepreneurs (8–12): Simple, fun, and empowering interfaces
  • Teen creators (13–18): More autonomy, advanced customization, and peer recognition
  • Parents: Transparent financial oversight and educational alignment
  • Nonprofits and schools: Tools for easy onboarding, fundraising, and oversight

To extend Mighty's reach and impact, HappyFunCorp created new platform experiences tailored to different audience segments, such as an organizational fundraising platform that enables schools and nonprofits to use Mighty’s tools for their communities and a public marketplace with curated landing pages featuring user-created products, laying the foundation for a broader e-commerce strategy.

Execute a multi-platform implementation

HappyFunCorp expanded and refined the Mighty platform across several fronts:

  • Redesigning the onboarding flow to welcome and retain new users with an inspiring experience
  • Transforming the static homepage into an engaging feed that showcases community creativity and encourages participation
  • Developing a product design suite with tools that allow users to design custom products that Mighty manufactures and ships
  • Creating a website builder that empowers young entrepreneurs to easily design personalized online storefronts
  • Building comprehensive user portals with specialized tools, like a financial dashboard that helps young entrepreneurs to track earnings and manage their businesses

The results: A scalable platform that empowers young entrepreneurs and drives long-term growth

In partnering with HappyFunCorp, Mighty didn’t just improve its product—it transformed how it thinks about product strategy, user experience, and long-term growth. What began as a search for design support evolved into a strategic collaboration that helped Mighty clarify its vision, expand its audience, and build the systems needed for sustainable scale.

Just a few of the outcomes of Mighty’s partnership with HappyFunCorp:

  • Successful expansion into the teen demographic with targeted tools and messaging—the new teen-focused landing page saw an 83% increase in conversions
  • Increased user engagement through better onboarding, community-driven features, and personalized dashboards
  • Visual and design consistency across the platform through a scalable, well-integrated design system
  • Accelerated development with more efficient collaboration between design and engineering
  • Stronger investor confidence with new business development materials and polished pitch decks
  • Monetization readiness through new features supporting subscriptions and financial partnerships

Most importantly, HappyFunCorp became a deeply trusted partner and advisor, embedded within Mighty's leadership team. HappyFunCorp’s Principal Product Designer played a critical role in guiding strategic product decisions, shaping company direction, and supporting Mighty’s mission to prepare the next generation with real-world entrepreneurial skills.

By equipping Mighty with a clear product vision, scalable infrastructure, and a compelling platform experience that demonstrated strong growth potential and long-term value to the acquiring company, this collaboration helped lay the foundation for a successful acquisition exit for Mighty and ensured a seamless transition that maximized value for stakeholders and positioned the business for continued impact under new ownership.
